Online Data Helping Campaigns Customize Ads
Political campaigns, which have borrowed tricks from Madison Avenue for decades, are now fully engaged on the latest technological frontier in advertising: aiming specific ads at potential supporters based on where they live, the Web sites they visit and their voting records. In recent primaries, two kinds of Republican voters have been seeing two - Political campaigns are engaged in aiming specific ads at potential supporters based on where they live, Web sites they visit and their voting records; technology that makes such customized advertising possible is called microtargeting, and companies that collect data on how consumers behave online and off have combined that data with voter registration, making the strategy much more sophisticated. Please boycott Natural Selections and all their sub-brands and Dole Foods until they stop the use of cattle feces as fertilizer and unsanitary cattle drainage water on their lettuces and spinach. The same drainage water that cows clean themselves with, go to the bathroom in, and wallow in is the same water that’s being used to water your spinach and lettuce. Their haphazard use of cattle feces, the main carrier of the E. coli bacteria, is endangering the health of those of us who love fresh foods. In the past year alone, Dole has had 2 recalls of their salad products due to E. coli contamination in their lettuce and spinach. The only company that seems to be in the clear so far is Fresh Express, but they are still being investigated.
Please warn your families about the potential danger of using Natural Selections and Dole Foods produce! Until these companies stop using cattle feces on their crops, these outbreaks will continue to occur!
Natural Selection Foods, LLC brands include: Natural Selection Foods, Pride of San Juan, Earthbound Farm, Bellissima, Dole, Rave Spinach, Emeril, Sysco, O Organic, Fresh Point, River Ranch, Superior, Natures Basket, Pro-Mark, Compliments, Trader Joes, Ready Pac, Jansal Valley, Cheney Brothers, DArrigo Brothers Co. of New York, Green Harvest, Mann, Mills Family Farm, Premium Fresh, Snoboy, The Farmers Market, Tanimura & Antle, Presidents Choice, Cross Valley, and Riverside Farms.
Answer: yes,i'm sure without a doubt.E. coli is caused by vegetables and fruits coming in contact with feces(speciffically cows).the runoff of feces goes into the water irrgations systems used to grow the spinach(or any vegtable or fruit).cows aren't monitered in factory farms so it leads to the cow feces contaminating a large water supply, and the companies that use that water are effected by that because it causes in E. coli in vegetables.

Palin PAC buys Palin book
Sarah Palins political action committee has spent more than $63,000 to buy copies of her autobiography as "books for fund-raising donor fulfillment" and paid her publisher $20,000 to send a photographer and aide on her book tour.
The payments went to Harper Collins, publisher of "Going Rogue," and in some cases to HSP Direct, a fund-raising company that serves conservative politicians and pundits. The payments were first reported by ABC News.
SarahPac, which raised $2.1 million in 2009, spent an additional $8,000 on colorful bookmarks designed by a Nashville firm.
The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee is due another payday this week at the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville. Palin is being paid $115,000 as the conventions keynoter.
Palin PAC Spent More On Books Than Candidates
Ex-AK Gov. Sarah Palins (R) PAC spent more money buying copies of Palins best-selling book than it gave in contributions to political candidates, according to new FEC reports.
The papers filed over the weekend show SarahPAC spent $47,777 on copies of "Going Rogue" during the last 6 months of the year. Meanwhile, she handed out just $43K in donations to candidates seeking federal office.
Answer: It's an old trick to boost book sales so an author appears on the New York Times bestseller list. I'm a truck driver, and once took a full trailer filled with pallet after pallet of Ann Coulter's books to a recycling plant. They had been bought by a conservative book club, and no one ordered them. But since they had been sold, albeit at a bulk discount, they made Ann able to slap "New York Times Bestseller" on the cover.

How long do I have to file International Patents after filing for US patents?
The USPTO refers me to this web page
it talks about the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property which allows me 12 months after the filing date for my US patent. But then It talks about the Patent Cooperation Treaty which says that I can file one application for all the cooperating Countries but it doesnt say how long I have to do it.
Also the USPTO gave me a filing date and they also gave me a different date for when My Foriegn Filing License was Granted. Which date do I go by?
Answer: In general you have about 12 months, but it can vary from country to country. You go by your filing date. Everything takes time, so don't wait till 11 months and 2 weeks to get started. Any public disclosure can eliminate your rights in some countries.

How do Sarah Palin fans feel about the way she has spent her PAC money?
Ex-AK Gov. Sarah Palin (R) spent almost as much money to de-ice her private jets than she did donating money to candidates during the first 3 months of the year, according to new filings made with the FEC.
The filings show Palins political wing, Sarah PAC, paid a FL-based airplane service company $7,300 to de-ice a private jet. The PAC spent more than $16K -- twice as much as it donated to individual candidates -- on hotels from New Orleans to New York City to Richland, WA and $3400 for one night in one hotel.
Yet Palin gave just $7,500 to candidates running for office this time. She handed $1K checks to Iraq war vet Vaughn Ward (R), who is running against Rep. Walt Minnick (D-ID); Iraq War vet Allen West (R), who faces a primary in his challenge to Rep. Ron Klein (D-FL); and ex-McLean Co. Commis./Iraq war vet Adam Kinzinger (R), the nominee against Rep. Debbie Halvorson.
Palin gave $2,500 to Ashland Co. DA Sean Duffy (R), running an uphill battle against Rep. Dave Obey (D-WI), and another $2K to ophthalmologist Rand Paul (R), the reports show. Meanwhile, she also gave $1K each to 2 PACs that support veterans running for Congress.
The $9,500 in checks represent just 2.3% of the money Palin brought in during the first quarter. Palins PAC spent a total of $409,760 in the first quarter.
Whats more, there is no evidence that Palin has kept her promise to donate money she earned from a Tea Party convention in Feb. Amid controversies surrounding the National Tea Party Convention, held in Nashville, Palin said she would donate her $100K speaking fee to campaigns, candidates and issues, but there is no contribution of this kind listed on her filings.
Answer: The greedy quitter has no future in a national office. The more the Teabaggers give her publicity, the better the democrats like it. Thanks.
Romney Reopens Whatever-It-Takes Playbook
When Gov. Rick Perry began rising in the polls, Mitt Romney was ready with a potent debate-night assault: under Mr. Perry, illegal immigrants in Texas received a $100,000 tuition break. As Newt Gingrich surged, the Romney campaign dispatched colleagues of Mr. Gingrich, a former House speaker, to ridicule him as narcissistic and erratic in - Mitt Romney is proving adept at defining, diminishing and disqualifying a serial cast of challengers through relentless attacks and using every tactic in the negative-campaign playbook; as successful as the strategy has been, though, it has raised questions about his role in turning the primary process into something akin to a civil war, even as it has demonstrated a ferocious, whatever-it-takes style that could hearten Republicans if he ends up in a general election race against Mr Obama. What is wrong with copyright laws in the U.S.?
Copyrights in the U.S. dont expire until 70 years after a the creator of a work is dead, and a copyright is granted automatically when a work is created. Most patents, on the other hand, expire after only 20 years. Applicants for patents must jump through a lot of hoops to get them, and must pay a maintenance fee to keep them.
Is there something wrong with this picture? Why should a copyright, which costs nothing to get, live for so much longer than a patent? Wouldnt 20 years be more reasonable? Why should a copyright live so much longer than the creator of the work its granted on?
Answer: If you obtain a patent on something, odds are great that at the end of twenty years, technology will have changed and something newer and better will be on the market anyway. Also, there is nothing to stop the creator of the thing on which a patent is issued from making improvements and obtaining subsequent patents. Every time the patented device is improved, the clock starts ticking afresh. There is an excellent policy reason behind the limited life span beyond what I have stated previously. A limited lifespan forces the holder of the thing subject to the patent off of his or her posterior to exploit and/or improve the invention. By doing bringing the product to market relatively quickly, the public benefits. There is a trade off involved in obtaining a patent: A patent is not a right to practice or use the invention. Rather, a patent provides the right to exclude others from making, using, selling, offering for sale, or importing the patented invention for the term of the patent, which is usually 20 years from the filing date. A patent is, in effect, a limited property right that the government offers to inventors in exchange for their agreement to share the details of their inventions with the public. Like any other property right, it may be sold, licensed, mortgaged, assigned or transferred, given away, or simply abandoned. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patent Simply stated, in return for being granted a monopoly, the inventor has to make the idea publicly accessible, which may lead to further improvements. Copyrights, on the other hand, deal with things with a longer useful life span. "Copyright may apply to a wide range of creative, intellectual, or artistic forms, or "works". Specifics vary by jurisdiction, but these can include poems, theses, plays, other literary works, movies, dances, musical compositions, audio recordings, paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, software, radio and television and broadcasts." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyrights For instance, if I compose a piece of music, it may give listeners as much or more pleasure in thirty years as it does today. Similarly, if I write a novel or a play it may have value years from now. Technological changes will not necessarily adversely affect the utility of a matter subject to copyright. That is why the copyright lasts longer. The difference in the life spans of the subjects of copyright and patents can clearly be seen in the existence of "literary executors," who have the job of both commercially exploiting and protecting the work copyrighted. Because of the rapid pace of technological development, there is no comparable office for patents. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literary_executor

Would these 2 ideas make our govt better?
I believe there are 2 laws that must be passed to correct our oversized, and underproducing govt. 1) term limits to remove career politicans (Kennedy, Boxer, Pelosi, Lott, etc.). And 2) a complete ban on all campaign contributions from any entity other than individual, legal voters - and with that a cap of say $2000/voter. No PACs, corporations, foreign nations, special interest groups, etc. could give money to campaigns or political parties. As it is, politicians owe their allegiance to those that give the most $$$$ and it is certainly not to We the People. Govt does its business based upon who gave the most to their collective campaigns and that is wrong. We the People should be in charge and the govt should answer only to us. Think about it.
I am glad so many of you agree with these ideas. And many of you have shared the same reasons why these things wont happen (i.e.: putting the fox in charge of the henhouse or getting yourself kicked out of your own job). But I say it can work. If enough people tell their represetntatives or wanna-be politicians about them maybe we can get things changed. MAYBE. What do they say: absolute power corrupts absolutely? Obviously. Look at the federal govt. I firmly believe this: if our govt doesnt change soon and start listening to We the People - perhaps by implementing these ideas and others - there will be a revolution. The masses cannot tolerate the inane happenings in Washington. It is getting worse. I know of noone who is pleased w/ the govt right now. History shows us that all great societies fall: Rome, Egypt, Spain, Great Britain....are we to be the next in line? Or do better times await the good old USA?!?
Answer: nope...the less laws the better. .

Do you want to stop PAC money in your State?
If millions in PAC money is stopping your choice candidate or special interest groups are spending on single interests issues....you need to now about January 31th, 2012
In National Organization For Marriage v. Walter McKee (Maine), the Court included an interesting topic:
"Funds that can reasonably be determined to have been provided by the contributor for the purpose of initiating or influencing a campaign when viewed in the context of the contribution and the recipients activities regarding a campaign"
From this opinion, and based upon how the press and press from the PACs themselves, a reasonable person would conclude monies donated to a specific PAC will be earmarked to promote a specific candidate or cause. This in turn means most monies directed towards these PACs are essentially monies directed towards the candidates themselves.
Spread the word...see more details on Wikipedias page for

Need Definition for Patent Infringement?
How is patent infringement defined?
I have searched http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/mpep/mpep.htm and find no definition of patent infringement.
Can someone redesign a product and sell without patent infringement?
Answer: At the end of a (U.S.) patent, there is a list of CLAIMS. They describe what is covered by the patent. You may have to read the rest of the patent to learn want a term used in the claim means. If you make, use, sell or import something that meets the qualifications listed in one or more of the claims, then you are infringing that patent. If you redesign a product so that it no longer meets the qualifications in any of the claims, then it doesn't infringe that patent.

Are PACs affiliated with a particular political party?
Im writing an essay for AP Gov. and was wondering if I understood it right. Heres a clip from my paper, does it make sense?
"Interest groups contribute money to Political Action Committees (PACs). Answer: For the most part. There are some Political Action Committees which are responsible for non-partisan interest aggregation, but the vast majority of interest-oriented PACs fall under a major political party, the most notable being the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) which meets annually to address the direction of the Republican Party.

Do you think the government should be allowing patents on life forms?
In 1987 they ruled that this was acceptable. What are your thoughts?
Answer: I have my doubts about the wisdom of this. I can see patents on methods for synthesizing a gene, but not for the naturally-occuring gene itself.
